sixstringtv's busy week
Kaylen confirmed he has run Eisbrecher Guitars since February 2025, and he posted an exchange in which he asked the maker of Melody, an AI folding guitar, for $7,000 and then $10,000 to take down his negative review, which he says was a joke.12

Consensus watch
- Kaylen: Five channels made videos about Kaylen this week, and so did Kaylen, twice. (Danny Sapko, The Guitologist, TheGuitarGeek, 60 Cycle Hum, Sonic Drive Studio, sixstringtv)9
- The Bud Cole interview: Mary Spender interviewed Bud Cole once. Tim Pierce reviewed the interview once, and Cordy reviewed it twice. (Mary Spender, John Nathan Cordy, Tim Pierce)10
- Whether you need an amp: Rob Chapman says digital is essential for touring, and John Nathan Cordy says you don't need an amp in 2026. On Tim Pierce's channel, Joe Bonamassa defended digital Twins in a video titled "Bonamassa FALLS HARD For A Little NEW Tube Amp". (Rob Chapman, John Nathan Cordy, Tim Pierce Guitar)11
- The Mesa Dual Rectifier: Sonic Drive Studio bought one and has "zero regrets", Riffs, Beards & Gear put it in the history books, and Ola Englund just plugged a pedal into one. (Sonic Drive Studio, Riffs, Beards & Gear, Ola Englund)12
The Big Story
The price of a joke
Kaylen of sixstringtv reviewed Melody, a folding plastic guitar with rubber frets and generative AI inside, and did not like it. The video passed a quarter of a million views. According to Kaylen, a company representative then wrote from an alternative email address asking for it to come down, saying they had not eaten or slept in 48 hours.13
Kaylen posted the exchange to his Instagram stories with his reply: he would take the video down for $7,000. The company answered that $7,000 was roughly six months' earnings where its representative lives, that its usual budget for creators was no more than $500, and that it might be able to get $2,000 approved. Kaylen posted that too, said he was being lowballed, and set the price at $10,000. Under one post, according to 60 Cycle Hum, he told a commenter that he would have taken the $7,000. The opening figure was fourteen times the company's stated creator budget.14
On 19 September, Ryan of 60 Cycle Hum published a video saying the review itself was fine and probably deserved, but objecting to "putting it on the menu for manufacturers that they could pay to have a bad review disappear." Ryan noted that Kaylen also runs a management agency representing other guitar YouTubers, so the message reached beyond one channel, and asked viewers not to go after him. The Guitologist called it extortion.15
Kaylen replied that morning. The offer was public, he said, and "That is what we call a joke." His defence was that a real bribe would have come with an NDA. The comment about taking the money was a joke for the same reason. He described the maker as an AI garbage company, not a gear company.16
Hours later, Sonic Drive Studio's Jon Symons posted a different story. Months earlier, Symons had bought an Eisbrecher Guitars Meshuggah-style eight-string through Reverb, with a 100 euro discount, to review. Symons says it arrived in a single inner box with bad fretwork and what looked like rust on the bridge, and was taped back up within minutes. Symons sent it back without using Reverb's returns process, in the same packaging, insured, and was refunded. The company then said it had arrived damaged and, over Instagram, asked for about 450 euros. The courier refused the insurance claim, citing the packaging. Symons asked friends for advice. Kaylen, Symons says, was the only one who said to pay.17
During the dispute, Symons received two threatening comments. The second, from a newly created account, contained Symons's house number, had the postcode in its username and mentioned the private Messenger group Symons ran. Symons says Kaylen was one of six people online in that group at the time. Symons said repeatedly that this was not an accusation and could not be proven, contacted the police and installed extra security. The group disbanded. A friend later told Symons that Kaylen was behind Eisbrecher. Reverb closed the case with nothing owed, after which, Symons says, Kaylen sent an angry email accusing Symons of spreading lies to his clients. Symons also says a Reddit user who vouched for the guitar posted a photo whose wood grain matches the exact instrument Symons received.18
Kaylen confirmed that night that he has owned Eisbrecher since February 2025. He said the guitar had QC issues and should not have shipped, and that both sides mishandled the return. His account differs from Symons's on the details: he says Symons sent it back unannounced with the wrong courier, and that his advice was to settle amicably with the company, given while keeping up a facade. On the comments, he said: "my conscience is entirely clear regarding that disgusting terror comment John got on his channel." He argued the company had no motive, as it was already seeking its costs from Reverb. He also said Eisbrecher had given customers $50 discounts to post their guitars in Facebook groups.19
On 20 September, Danny Sapko told 411,256 viewers that Eisbrecher's demos and supposed customers come from Kaylen's management clients, and that Kaylen had sent a five-minute voice message to a group chat calling the comments horrible and swearing he did not write them.20
Kaylen says he will keep running Eisbrecher, will not play or advertise its guitars on his channel, and has offered critics uncut conversations. He says his Instagram posts about the Melody price are still up. Symons says the channel is going back to reviewing amps. Nobody has identified who wrote the comments.21
Who's Beefin'
The Guitologist vs sixstringtv
Heat: 5/5
The Guitologist covered Kaylen twice this week: once on extortion, and once under the title "Is SixStringTV BUYING VIEWS AND SUBS?" The video answers its own title: "I think he's bought views and subscribers to set it up so that he could blackmail or extort these people." The Guitologist also says Kaylen has slandered The Guitologist more than anyone else, which in this week's queue is a competitive claim.22
Sonic Drive Studio vs sixstringtv
Heat: 4/5
Kaylen's reply to Sonic Drive Studio was titled "I've been hiding this from you." Jon Symons says Kaylen secretly owns Eisbrecher Guitars, and that "he makes videos about guitar companies doing shady stuff while he's doing this himself, and wants to keep this a secret". Jon Symons also describes a dispute over a returned guitar, in which Eisbrecher wanted around 450 euros to call it a day. In the reply, Kaylen denies any part in a threatening comment left on Jon Symons's channel.23
60 Cycle Hum vs sixstringtv
Heat: 4/5
Ryan Burke says Kaylen offered to make a negative review disappear for money. As for how anyone knows: "The reason I know that this happened is because [Kaylen] published it publicly, which is extra bonkers to me." Kaylen responded with a video titled "i'm being accused of corruption?", in which he says the offer was a joke.24
sixstringtv vs The Bandwagon
Heat: 4/5
Kaylen says: "This entire day has been non-stop bandwagoning from various creators regarding what's perceived to be a lack of integrity on my part". Danny Sapko climbed aboard to argue that sixstringtv is in serious trouble, and TheGuitarGeek followed with "But this is ALSO not OK - sixstringtv consequences". Seven videos about one channel in a week. The wagon is now a train.25
Cordy and Tim Pierce vs Fender
Heat: 3/5
Bud Cole sat down with Mary Spender to explain the cease and desist letters, and Cordy made three Fender videos this week. Tim Pierce says the letters were a corporate decision, not the law, and that a lot of Fender guitars are not good enough for Tim Pierce to use. Cordy, meanwhile, found the relevant line in Cole's CV: "Bud Cole said that his first kind of job that he applied for, for a PR assistant at Fender, and he didn't get the job. Maybe now we're starting to see why." PRS has released a Silver Sky called the Defender, which Cordy reads as PRS returning fire.26
Glenn Fricker vs Linux Users
Heat: 3/5
The video is titled after Marshall fanboys. The beef is with Linux users, who objected to an earlier video in which Glenn Fricker called the OS unfit for professional audio. The reply: "My Neve Genesis Black doesn't work. Dante doesn't work." The rest of the answer had more gain.27
George Lynch vs Peavey
Heat: 3/5
TheGuitarGeek reports that George Lynch "said on a podcast that Peavey were using prison labor." Peavey's side came in a video titled "Peavey Sets the Record Straight on Prison Labour". In the same video, Fred Poole explained that internet trolls enjoy annoying people, a finding the rest of this section supports.28
The Creator Desk
60 Cycle Hum
- Ryan Burke and Steve read out Kaylen's own post about Melody, an AI-powered folding guitar: "I jokingly said I would take the video down for $7,000. Now I'm being low-balled." The company had offered $2,000.29
- Ryan's objection is to "putting it on the menu for manufacturers that they could pay to have a bad review disappear."30
- Two days later they reviewed a hand-carved bass with a foot-shaped headstock, sold for $212 through Goodwill.31
The Guitologist
- The Guitologist alleges sixstringtv bought views and subscribers "to set it up so that he could blackmail or extort these people." His evidence is Social Blade figures and comment-to-view ratios.32
- A third upload announces he is switching to drums and consists of a single incomplete sentence, which is roughly where most guitarists' drum careers end.33
Danny Sapko
- Danny Sapko's summary of the sixstringtv story, built on the accounts of Sonic Drive Studio and 60 Cycle Hum: "[Kaylen], aka Six String TV, is already f*cked because his channel relies heavily on exposing the behavior of other guitar companies and other musicians."34
- Three days later, "Do you notice anything strange here?" turned out to be his short-scale basses, including a 30-inch Gibson Thunderbird, one of 900. Bassists, having run out of strings to remove, have started on the neck.35
John Nathan Cordy
- 13 uploads this week. 19 September: "FORGET DIGITAL - I WISH BOSS Still Made Pedals Like This", citing "digital fatigue". 20 September: "This £60 Pedal Puts Expensive Modelers to Shame".36
- "PRS Just Went NUCLEAR on FENDER" turned out to be eight Silver Sky colourways inspired by the Land Rover Defender. It drew 278,036 views, his biggest of the week by some distance.37
- Covering the Bud Cole interview twice in two days, Cordy noted that Cole's first application at Fender was for a PR assistant job, which he didn't get: "Maybe now we're starting to see why."38
Sonic Drive Studio
- Jon Symons says threatening comments containing his house number and postcode appeared after he named Kaylen as Eisbrecher's owner; he went to the police and added security. He does not claim proof of who sent them: "It was just too much of a coincidence. For me."39
- His Eisbrecher Meshuggah tribute guitar arrived with rust on the bridge and bad nut spacing, and the company asked for about €450 over the return. Kaylen, as a friend, advised him to pay, without mentioning whose company it was.40
The Trogly's Guitar Show
- Fender is fitting Professional Class Strats and Teles with a Silent System, "a giant dummy coil underneath the pick guard", to cancel 60-cycle hum. 60 Cycle Hum himself remains unaffected.41
- Trogly got his hands on a $30,000 Fender Custom Shop Violinmaster, based on Joshua Bell's 1713 Stradivarius. It has a dead fret, a loose internal part and neck dive. The Stradivarius has no frets, dead or otherwise.42
Charles Berthoud
sixstringtv
- Kaylen denies any part in the threatening comment left on Sonic Drive Studio's channel: "my conscience is entirely clear regarding that disgusting terror comment John got on his channel".45
- In "I've been hiding this from you.", he confirmed he has owned "Icebreaker Guitars, or rather Eisbrecher Guitars" since February 2025, and says he will keep it separate from the channel. The ice had been broken for him by Jon Symons earlier the same night.46
- On the AI guitar company that asked him to remove a review: "I'll take it down for $7,000. That is what we call a joke." 60 Cycle Hum report that he later posted he would have taken the money. He says that was a joke too, which makes two.47
Tim Pierce Guitar
- In "Fender CEO Tells Mary Spender Why He's SUING My Friends", the friends are LSL Guitars, which builds about 450 guitars a year and has launched a fundraiser for legal fees. Business director Johnny Miller says Fender's letters threatened €15,000 per guitar and demanded inventory be destroyed.48
- Tim Pierce: "I believe Fender venue shopped for this, which is smart business. I would have done the same thing." Also: "A lot of the guitars they make are mediocre. They're just not good enough for me to use."49
Bradley Hall
- Bradley Hall says he was refused entry to Brazil on his way back from the UK and held in a São Paulo airport detention centre for over 24 hours. He says the federal police and his visa agency told him he could travel while his residency application was pending; he had been fined for overstaying by about 80 days on the way out.50
- His own summary: "you're finished, Bradley Hall, you'll never shred in Brazil again." He calls the bureaucracy "so archaic and backwards" and has asked viewers for legal advice, which the comment section will be glad to supply.51
- His wife and newborn daughter are in Brazil. He does not know how long the ban lasts.52
Mimisounds
"I missed my flight to Nashville" was, for once, the whole story: Mimisounds missed a flight to a Martin event and answered viewer questions instead.53
SpectreSoundStudios
- On Linux audio: "if it doesn't fucking work, then it fucking sucks." Most of the fury on record in "Marshall Fanboys Are FURIOUS About This!" was Glenn's, aimed at Linux. We have compiled a sound driver before, and tend to agree.54
KDH
- Kev from Marshall says profits from the company's headphones and Bluetooth speakers fund grassroots venues: "We have this campaign right now called Keep Live Music Alive, and we really mean it." The speakers that need no guitarist are paying for the stages that do.55
TheGuitarGeek
- TheGuitarGeek backs 60 Cycle Hum on sixstringtv, and discloses that he was once represented by Kaylen's management company; they parted after six months in which no work came in. On Kaylen: "he's doing stuff that is, is bordering on cruel, and sometimes fully."56
- Peavey's Fred Poole, on George Lynch's podcast claim: "Peavey has never used prison labor. No, it's ridiculous. It's not on the books." A visitor from a penitentiary recently asked about work, and was turned down.57
- Poole on the reaction to moving amp production abroad: "we move some guitar amps overseas, and oh my god, the world's on fire." We can tell that Fred is peaved.58
Rob Chapman
The brutal truth about digital modellers, per Rob Chapman, is that touring crews do not want "things that can move, things they have to carry", and guitarists are being told explicitly to leave the valve amp at home. Speaking of clutter, we count thirteen guitars within metres of Rob.59
Mary Spender
- "I Interviewed the CEO of Fender" is, unusually for a Mary Spender title, an accurate description of the video. Bud Cole on the cease and desist letters to about 60 brands: "the how we went about doing it got way ahead of the why".60
- Cole says the €250,000 in the letters was maximum potential damages, included on counsel's advice to start a discussion. Most discussions start with hello.61
- He says every recipient got the same letter, on legal advice, to avoid antitrust trouble. Fender has since reached agreements with 18 companies to change their designs.62
Rick Beato
- He toured Noble & Cooley for "I NEVER Thought Drums Were Made This Way". The way involves Buffalo Trace whiskey casks, curly maple and copper hardware in tribute to the distilling process.63
Ola Englund
Ola Englund played Chile with The Haunted, then came home to a Fortin 3.33 and an ENGL Savage 30, model E611, which by Ibanez standards is practically a name.64
Old Man Yells at Cloud
The cloud is currently composed of 80% smartphone grief and 20% digital fatigue.65
The end of the world. Rick Beato has dated the apocalypse. His video is called "The World Ended In 2012... We Just Didn't Realize It". It didn't end with fire. It ended when 4G was rolled out. "That was the killer for the music industry. It just was. That's when everything became algorithmic, and that's when people stopped knowing the same songs." Most of us missed it because we were on our phones.66
Short-form content. Rick's ruling on short videos: "That is a complete waste of your life. In my opinion, as someone that makes short-form content..." The case against short-form content was made by someone who makes short-form content. He followed it with "But short-form content is there to addict you. It just is."67
The kids. He asked what the algorithmic age had done to kids who once called themselves "punk rockers, as goths, as alternative listeners, as metalheads". By his account, the phone has been "very successful through the use of algorithms at disconnecting kids from the ability to connect with music." The goths would have hated the 4G too, but quietly.68
Away from the screen. In the same week he visited the Noble & Cooley factory in Massachusetts to see drums made by hand. His title was "I NEVER Thought Drums Were Made This Way". Rick, seemingly unaware of next-gen innovations like barrels.69
Guest shouters. John Nathan Cordy didn't appear on Rick's show. In a video of his own he said he gets "a little bit of this digital fatigue" as the guitar world becomes "increasingly sort of app-based, connectivity-based". In another video the same week he said using an amp is "becoming difficult to justify a little bit". He is tired of digital and finds amps hard to justify. His titles this week included "FORGET DIGITAL", "I'm Sorry - You Don't Need an Amp in 2026" and "I've Spent Thousands on Amps - This is EMBARASSING To Admit". None of them settles which one he means.70
